MANILA A new deputy Presidential Spokesperson will be holding the next Palace briefing with media on Monday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said on Thursday.
Roque did not mention a name but hinted that his deputy spokesperson will be female.
On Monday will be possibly the first day that my deputy spokesperson will do a briefing. My deputy spokesperson will introduce herself on Monday, Roque said in a press briefing in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
Roque said he will be on leave on Monday to attend the wedding of his chief of staff.
He has repeatedly mentioned the need for a deputy spokesperson since he could not be in MalacaAang all the time especially when he joins President Rodrigo R. Duterte in his official trips.
Roque is also frequently invited to hold press conferences all over the country.
Last May, Roque introduced Peterson Poon as his top pick to be deputy spokesperson.
Roque denied that Poon backed out from joining the Cabinet clarifying that he was never appointed in the first place.
He earlier quipped that he wanted his deputy spokesperson to be a millennial and better-looking than him. (PNA)
