The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) reported that power lines were stable, despite the entry of Severe Tropical Storm Nina into the country.
"As of 2 p.m., NGCP's transmission lines and facilities are under normal operations," the power grid operator said in a statement issued Friday.
The company said it has completed the necessary preparations and precautions to minimize the impact of the tropical storm.
NGCP said it has ensured the reliability of communications equipment, and has secured the availability of hardware materials and supplies necessary for the repair of potential damages to its facilities.
It added that it has positioned line crews in strategic areas to facilitate immediate restoration work.
The Sy-led company further said the entire power grid is being monitored by its Overall Disaster Command Center, which gets its reports and updates from the Regional Command Centers in North Luzon, South Luzon and Visayas.
