More than 1K families affected by ‘Amang’ in Caraga

MANILA Inclement weather due to Tropical Depression Amang has affected 1,158 families or around 4,639 persons in the Caraga Region, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) announced in its update 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The update, which was released and signed by NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad, revealed that 682 families or 2,711 individuals are being served in 23 evacuation centers.

Inclement weather caused by the LPA also affected 242 cities and municipalities in Bicol, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao and Caraga.

The NDRRMC also reported that 3,047 passengers, 391 rolling cargoes, 27 vessels and nine motorbancas were stranded in ports in Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Eastern and Southern Visayas.

To date, 5,256 families or 21, 006 persons were pre-emptively evacuated in the provinces of Albay, Camarines Sur, Masbate, Sorsogon, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Southern Leyte, Biliran, Compostela Valley, Agusan Del Norte, Dinagat Islands, Surigao Del Norte and Surigao Del Sur. (PNA)
