MANILAThe Metropolitan Manila Authority (MMDA) on Thursday announced the rerouting of light vehicles from the C-3 bridge in Navotas to give way for the construction of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Harbor Link Segment 10 C-3 to Radial Road 10 (R-10) section.
In a press briefing, MMDA general manager Jose Arturo Jojo Garcia said the C-3 bridge will be partially closed starting Saturday, July 20, for partial demolition and construction of the C-3 to R10 section, warning of possible heavy traffic in the area.
We are advising motorists to plan their trips ahead and, at the same time, seek their understanding as the partial closure of C-3 bridge is necessary to complete this project on time, Garcia said.
During the partial closure of the bridge, light vehicles coming from C-3 road going to R-10, and vice versa, will be rerouted along Dagat-Dagatan Avenue and Lapu-Lapu Avenue until the project's estimated completion in December of this year.
The remaining two lanes of the C-3 bridge will only be open to trucks and other heavy vehicles because the alternate route planned by the MMDA is only wide enough for light vehicles.
Ipra-priority natin sa bridge na ito ay talagang yung mga truck (The bridge is really to prioritize the trucks), Garcia said.
To ensure smooth traffic within the construction area and alternate routes, the MMDA, and the NLEX Corporation will deploy traffic marshals to manage the flow of vehicles.
Directional traffic signs will also be placed in strategic locations to better guide the driving public.
The NLEX Harbor Link Segment C-3 to R-10 section is a 2.6-km elevated expressway from C-3 road in Caloocan City to R-10 in Navotas City.
It will connect to the recently opened 5.65-km NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 that passes through Karuhatan in Valenzuela City, Governor Pascual Avenue in Malabon City, and New Caloocan Interchange in 5th Avenue/C-3 Road, Caloocan City. (PNA)
