MANILA-- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) expressed its gratitude to low-cost carrier AirAsia for giving its troops, engaged in peacekeeping missions, free in-flight meals and extra baggage allowance.
"We would like to pass on our appreciation to Air Asia for their quick action and new policy for our men in uniform. We take this as our source of inspiration and strength," said AFP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla on Thursday.
With this outpouring of support from the public, the military official said troops, more than ever, have expressed their willingness to serve the Filipino people.
"Your AFP and all our uniformed servicemen all over the archipelago are here to serve our people and we assure you of our dedication and readiness to sacrifice for the Filipino in the interest of peace and prosperity for all," he said.
In the same vein, Padilla urged the public to continue praying for the continued safety of all Filipino soldiers and peace in the country.
"Sana hindi po kayo magsawa sa panalangin para sa ating kawal at para sa kapayapaan para sa ating inang bayan. Harinawa tularan rin ng karamihan ang ginawa ng mga kababayan natin at ng AirAsia," he said
