Metro Pacific Investments : C-5 South Link set to break ground

Seamless connection to Cavitex, CALAX MANILA, Philippines - Cavitex Infrastructure Corp. (CIC), a unit of Metro Pacific Investments Corp.(MPIC), is planning to begin the construction of the first phase of the C-5 South Link Expressway by July after securing final approvals from the government. CIC president Luigi Bautista told reporters the company has sent a proposal to the government to hold the groundbreaking of the first phase of the project next month after the Toll Regulatory Board and the Department of Public Works and Highways have given their final approvals for the construction of the C-5 South Link Expressway."We proposed May 2 (for groundbreaking). We don't know if government would want to do it.We're ready," Bautista said. The new expressway will also give a seamless connection to MPIC's Manila-Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) road network, and to the 45-kilometer Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CaLax) awarded to the group under the public-private partnership program and is slated for completion in 2020.MPIC through tollway arm Metro Pacific Tollways Corp., is the largest toll operator in the country.Aside from the Cavitex network of toll roads, the group operates the North Luzon Expressway and the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway.
