COTABATO CITY-- A magnitude 6.0 quake hit Lanao del Sur early Wednesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor was felt at 5:21 a.m., was tectonic in origin and traced 6 kilometers west of upland town of Wao. It has a depth of 1 km.
The tremor was also felt in surrounding areas of Lanao del Sur.
Intensity IV was felt in Davao City; Cagayan De Oro City; Cotabato City; and Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental.
Instrumental Intensity: Intensity III- Cagayan De Oro City
Aftershocks are expected, Phivolcs said.
Lanao del Sur is 131 kilometers east of Cotabato City or 3 hours and 15 minutes travel by land via Banisilan-Alamada road.
No reported casualties or damages to properties as of posting.
