LPA off Mindanao unlikely to become tropical cyclone

MANILA A low pressure area (LPA) was spotted east of Mindanao but has a low chance of becoming a tropical cyclone. the weather bureau said on Saturday.

In an early morning forecast, Aldczar Aurelio, weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), said the LPA was last located 940 km. east-southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, inside the Philippine area of responsibility.

The LPA will bring rains over the eastern portion of Mindanao, the Visayas and the Bicol region.

In the Ilocos, Cordillera, and Cagayan Valley regions, the northeast monsoon or amihan will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers brought by localized thunderstorms.

Temperature in Metro Manila will range from 24C to 32C; Laoag City, 24C to 33C; Tagaytay City, 22C to 30C; Legazpi City, 26C to 34C; Metro Cebu, 26C to 32C; and Metro Davao 25C to 33C. (PNA)
