LPA, monsoon to bring rains over PH Sunday

MANILA-- The low pressure area (LPA) last spotted at 335 km northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, and the southwest monsoon affecting the western section of Luzon and of Visayas will cause rains to most parts of the country on Sunday, state weather agency Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

In its 24-hour forecast, PAGASA said cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides will prevail over eastern and central Visayas, Caraga.

Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms is expected over Metro Manila, the rest of visayas, Ilocos, Mimaropa, Zamboanga Peninsula, northern Mindanao, Davao, Zambales and Bataan.

The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, moderate to occasionally strong winds Will blow from southwest to southeast over northern and western sections of Luzon, and from southwest to west over the eastern part of Visayas and of Mindanao.

Coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to occasionally rough.

Light to moderate winds will blow from southwest to southeast over the rest of Luzon, and from southwest to west over the rest of Visayas and Mindanao with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said.
