LGUs urged to submit nominations to Search for Outstanding Volunteers

Recognizing the vital contributions of volunteers, Interior and Local Government Officer-in-Charge Catalino S. Cuy is encouraging local government units (LGUs) to submit nominations for the Search for Outstanding Volunteers (SOV) until July 15, 2017.

DILG Acting Secretary Cuy said that the volunteers' role as implementers of development initiatives is critical in the fulfillment of various government undertakings for they perform multi-faceted functions.

Cuy also said that SOV 2017 will not only recognize outstanding volunteers but will also give credit to the significant role volunteers play in nation-building and will encourage the spirit of volunteerism.

SOV 2017, spearheaded by the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) thru the National Development Authority (NEDA), is open for individuals of Filipino citizenship; Filipino or local chapters of foreign/international non-profit organizations; and Filipino or local chapters of foreign/international corporate organizations.

"The selfless dedication of our volunteers deserves to be given due credit and SOV 2017 is the perfect venue to do just that," said Cuy.

The annual search will be conferring two types of awards, the National Outstanding Volunteer Award handed to an individual (youth and adult categories), or organization (non-profit and corporate categories) with exemplary volunteer service which made a significant contribution in uplifting the lives of people and communities served.
