President Benigno Aquino 3rd encouraged Filipinos to unite and continue to help one another in order to sustain the country’s development.
“The Daang Matuwid showed us the path towards positive transformation: We are weeding out the corrupt and strengthening our institutions, and through reform, we are freeing ourselves from poverty, towards a more just, more inclusive society,” Aquino said in his final Easter message as president.
“As our nation approaches another crossroads, let us seek the light amidst the clouds of uncertainty. I am confident that the Filipino people will embrace the chance to establish an enduring mainstream of redemption in our country,” he added.
The President said Easter Sunday was a good time to meditate.
“Lent offered us a respite from the speed of our daily lives. It enjoined us to pause and ruminate on our actions the past year. At the same time, it offered a fresh start that challenges us to commit to sustain that which better us, make amends for transgressions, and learn from our mistakes,” Aquino said.
“Today, let us make a stand: Fearless and full of hope, we charge towards a brighter, more empowered tomorrow. May the Almighty’s grace shine upon us, imbuing us with compassion, clarity, and the wisdom to discern what is right and just for our fellowmen.
May peace and harmony prevail over our archipelago. With renewed spirits, let us continue to build the equitably progressive Philippines we have long aspired to,” he added.
