MANILA-- Elizabeth Yu Gokongwei, widow of late Filipino billionaire John Gokongwei Jr., passed away at 85, a week after the death of her husband, her family confirmed on Saturday.
"Our mother, Elizabeth Yu Gokongwei, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 16, 2019, one week after the death of our father, John Gokongwei, Jr., her husband of 61 years," the Gokongwei family said in a statement.
According to the family, the wake will be private and details will be shared with friends and family.
Elizabeth is survived by her children Robina, Lance, Lisa, Faith, Hope, and Marcia; her in-laws and grandchildren.
The Gokongwei's JG Summit Holdings, Inc. is one of the largest conglomerates in the Philippines which covers a wide range of sectors such as food manufacturing (Universal Robina Corporation), real estate (Robinsons Land), air transportation (Cebu Pacific), retail (Robinsons Retail Holdings Incorporated), banking (Robinsons Bank), and petrochemicals (JG Petrochemicals), among others.
