James Younghusband returns as Azkals gear up for N. Korea

MANILA, Philippines – James Younghusband makes his return to the Philippine national football team on Tuesday when the Azkals take on North Korea in their final World Cup/Asian Cup Qualifiers at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Younghusband joins an Azkals team that is coming off a 0-1 loss to Uzbekistan last Thursday in Tashkent. They are already out of contention for a spot in the World Cup, but can still make it to the 2019 AFC Cup.

Goal-keeper Neil Etheridge, hailed as the hero of the Azkals' tremendous stand against the heavily favored Uzbeks, was also called up, as are veterans Misagh Bahadoran, Patrick Reichelt and Juani Guirado among others.

However, Stephan Schrock and Phil Younghusband were not included in the line-up as they are still dealing with injuries.

The full 23-man line-up, unveiled by the Philippine Football Federation on Saturday, is as follows:

The Azkals currently have seven points after seven matches played in Group H. North Korea, the 94th ranked team in the world, have 16 points.

The match will be aired live on ABS-CBN Sports+Action at 8 p.m.
