The Schools Division of Ilocos Norte (SDOIN) received on Friday a total of 369 desktop computers to be awarded to the different elementary and secondary schools in the province in time for the official opening of classes on October 5.
On behalf of the teachers and students, Ilocos Norte Schools Division Superintendent Joan Corpuz said she is glad for the overwhelming support of the provincial government led by Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc and the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
“We can’t thank enough the governor and members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for bringing us these blessings. Thank you for always supporting the Department of Education,” said Corpuz in her short speech during the turn-over ceremony held at the open ground of the SDOIN.
Funded under the special education fund of Ilocos Norte, the brand-new desktop computers will be used by teachers and students in online learning.
Apart from the desktop computers, the provincial government will also distribute tablets, printers, and xerox machines in clustered schools for the reproduction of modules.
Two giant business process outsourcing companies also committed to donate their used computers to be distributed to the different municipal i-hubs where students can download and upload their learning materials.
For his part, the governor expressed his gratitude to the teachers of Ilocos Norte for their hard work and dedication in ensuring continuous learning amid the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.
