GUIMARAS-- The Provincial Government of Guimaras (PGG) initiated the first step towards becoming ICT (Information, Communications, Technology) ready as it holds its Capability Development Workshop on March 21, 2017 attended by various stakeholders from the public and private sectors. Amores of the Department of Information and Communications Technology � Field Operations Office, Visayas Cluster I brought with him a pool of resource persons to inspire the creation of a Guimaras ICT Council The ICT Council will eventually be the core group to spearhead the province's possible strategies to become one of the emerging sites for information technology. Jocelle Batapa � Sigue, Former National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP) President and Current NICP Board Member and Chair of the Bacolod � Negros Occidental Federation for ICT (BNEFIT) eyes that the steady growth of this industry will bring in more jobs to those who are just within the Island Province of Guimaras and not leaving behind their families to earn. Let's bring Guimaras up to page with the rest of the country and the world, said Atty. Sigue. Mr. Joeven Tansi, the Executive Director of the Iloilo Federation for Information Technology (IFIT) and Ms. Thea Obamos, Executive Director of the Capiz ICT Council (CICT) were among the experts in the field of ICT initiatives who gave their valuable inputs in capacitating the stakeholders with the increasing and sustainable Information and Communications Technology � Business Process Management (IT-BPM) industry. IT�BPM is a growing market of ICT�enabled service firms which includes Animation and Game Development, Contact Centers and BPO (Business Process Outsourcing), Global In-House Centers, Health Information Management and Information Technology and Software Development which started in the late nineties but is still continuously emerging outside Metro Manila. The Philippine ICT Councils are engines for real inclusive growth which can bring jobs for the countryside and the creation of the Guimaras ICT Council, duly supported by the provincial officials and employees, may spur the local economy, transform the employment landscape and decrease unemployment rate.
