TAYTAY, Rizal-- Seventeen-time national champion Glenn Aguilar of KTM Racing Team rides a surging momentum to post a back-to-back win in the Pro-Open Production category of the Diamond Motor Corp. Supercross held Saturday at the MX Messsiah Fairgrounds here.
I just did my homework. When I saw a chance to pass my opponent, that's the time I made the break-away, said the jubilant Aguilar, pointing out that he had only practiced one round in the track since the first leg (March 4).
Aguilar, 42, now has a commanding 50 points lead after two legs in the five-leg race series -- second edition of this classic event presented by Generation Congregation and sponsored by Diamond Motor Corp.
Bornok Mangosong, 25, of the Yamaha Racing Team, pride of Davao, who took the holeshot and was leading in the first two laps settled for second spot. He posted 44 points, six points behind Aguilar.
I had a good start. But I lost a lot of stamina which caused me a lot, said Mangoson.
The Davao ace rider confided that he made a lot of practice sessions at the start to give him the advantage and the chance to beat the veteran and experienced Aguilar.
It was on the fateful third lap through a sharp right turn just a few meters coming from the tabletop when grizzled Aguilar made the decisive move and overtook Mangosong.
JC Rellosa improved his standing and took third spot with 38 points . He was fourth place in the first leg.
Rounding the Top 10 of the race supported also by Go PRO Philippines, PTT Philippines, Yamaha Philippines, DC Philippines and Xtreme Adrenaline are: Enzo Rellosa (4th), Ralph Ramento (5th ),Jeric Mitra (6th), Mc Clean Aguilar(7th), Ompong Gabriel (8th) and Christian Ramento (9th).
Meanwhile, Pia Gabriela,19, third-year Mass Communication student of Wesleyan University and a native of Sto. Domingo, Nueva Ecija, showed riding superiority, topped the Ladies Class anew beating Quiana Reyes who took second and Khim Nichole Yumul placed third.
