Women from three coastal barangays in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, gained opportunities to augment their household income through the value-adding process.
In a statement Friday, the Bislig information office said members from three women’s associations have successfully concluded their two-day fish processing training that concluded on Thursday.
The activity aims to equip the participants with the knowledge of preparation and the processing of various fish-based food products.
“A total of 28 members from the three women’s groups from Barangays Cumawas, Bongaitan, and Danipas joined the food processing training,” the statement said.
It added that the training has opened prospects for members of the associations to engage in value-adding of products for better income.
The participants were trained in the preparation and processing of bangus fish in tomato sauce and also bangus in corn oil.
They were also honed in fish embotido and fish ball making, the statement said.
The two-day activity was aided by the Bislig City Agriculture Office and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in the Caraga Region.
