MANILA, Philippines – Far Eastern University (FEU) and National University (NU) boosted their Final 4 stock with victories over separate opponents in the UAAP Season 78 men's volleyball tournament Sunday at the Philsports Arena.

The Tamaraws downed the University of the East (UE) Red Warriors, 25-20, 27-25, 23-25, 25-13, for their sixth win of the season against five losses that put them in solo fourth place.

Veteran Greg Dolor had 22 points on 17 attacks and four service aces, while Richard Solis added 15 points and Jude Garcia had 10 for the Tamaraws, who won despite committing 37 unforced errors.

Reigning Rookie of the Year Edward Camposano had 15 points and Jose Saguin added 11 but the Red Warriors still lost for the 11th straight time this season.

The Tams registered 55 attacks against only 33 for the Red Warriors. FEU setter Ronchette Villegas had 40 excellent sets in the game.

In the second game, NU overwhelmed University of the Philippines (UP), 25-17, 25-19, 25-17, to tighten their grip on the third spot with a 7-4 win-loss record.

Four players scored in double-digits for the Bulldogs, with James Natividad and Madzlan Gampong each scoring 15 points. NU, as a team, had 38 attack points against only 24 for UP.

NU overwhelmed UP at the net, scoring 13 points off kill blocks while also registering six service aces. The Fighting Maroons struggled to set up their offense and stayed alive in part due to the Bulldogs' own errors.

With the loss, UP dropped to 5-6 and saw their Final 4 chances take a blow.

UE is still winless at 0-11, and the Red Warriors are the only team in the tournament to have dropped out of the Final 4 race.
