QUEZON CITY- In response to the current thrust and the priorities of the Administration and the public's strong clamor for more responsive and effective government service, Secretary Ismael D. Sueno of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced the Department's new shared vision which is pro-community and pro-people.
In a memorandum circular directing the adoption of the Department's new vision statement, Sec. Sueno said that the DILG envisions to be: "A strongly determined and highly trusted Department committed to capacitate and nurture local government units (LGUs), public order and safety institutions to sustain peaceful, progressive, and safe communities where people live happily."
He explained that the new shared vision will inspire all the personnel of the DILG local government sector as well as the National Police Commission, Philippine National Police, Philippine Public Safety College, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and Local Government Academy to bring about real change in the areas of local governance as well as in the peace and order and public safety fronts.
"This new shared vision will serve as our guide and blueprint in carrying out reforms that will help President Rodrigo R. Duterte fulfill his promises to the people," Sec. Sueno said.
"This will make the Department a dynamic, responsive, and highly-trusted agency of the national government today and in the future," he added. (DILG)
Support to Pres. Duterte's 20-Point Agenda
Sec. Sueno also explained that the new shared vision was a product of a series of consultations which recognizes the need to strengthen the internal capacity of the Department in keeping its mandate, duties, and responsibilities of both the Local Government and Interior Sectors.
"Our DILG new shared vision supports Pres. Duterte's 20-point national development and security agenda where he wants a corruption-free, clean and hard-working government taking an immense role in improving the lives of the people and the communities throughout the country," Sec. Sueno stated.
Beyond the current administration, the DILG Secretary explained that the new shared vision also supports the long term vision of the government for the country, government, society, and the Filipino people.
"This is also anchored on Ambisyon 2040 which envisions a future of 'high trust society' where an effective, efficient, and clean government is trusted by the people and where Filipinos trust each other," Sec. Sueno explained.
The DILG Secretary directed all heads of agencies, offices, and units under the DILG Family to ensure that all programs, projects, and initiatives of their respective offices are aligned, consistent and are responsive to the new DILG shared vision.
