FORMER Manila mayor Alfredo Lim blamed Wednesday the Manila city council for the construction of Torre de Manila, the building netizens dubbed as the "photo bomber" of the monument of national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal.
In a mayoral debate held in University of the Philippines (UP) Manila, Lim said the city council passed the ordinance that allows the DMCI projects developers incorporated to build more than 40-storey building in the area.
Lim said that because the council passed the ordinance, he cannot do anything to stop the construction and all he has to do was to sign it.
Representative Amado Bagatsing, who is running for a mayoralty seat in Manila, said that he will just follow the decision of the Supreme Court.
The High Court earlier issued a temporary restraining order to stop the construction of the high-rise building that ruins the view of Rizal's monument.
The SC has yet to decide on the petition seeking to stop the construction of the residential condominium building. (Sunnex)
