epa05238977 Filipino fishermen maneuver their boat as the sun sets in Manila Bay, Philippines, 01 April 2016. According to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), the prevailing El Nino phenomenon could affect at least 100,000 fisherfolk in the country due to the decline in fish production in freshwater areas and coastal communities. The water temperature increases in the Pacific and Western Pacific side of the country which is feared to result in decrease of primary productivity and to lead to a decline in fish catch.
