DOT joins PACC lifestyle check to stamp out corruption

MANILA -- Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat has issued a directive to all Department of Tourism (DOT) officials to participate in the lifestyle check of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC).

This is in line with the PACC's call on government officials to submit themselves to investigations, as part of MalacaAang's drive to stamp out corruption in the government.

Not only do I submit myself, I also bring with me the DOT's officials, as we fully submit ourselves to the lifestyle check of the PACC. This our way of sending the message across that the DOT is one with the administration's anti-corruption drive, Romulo-Puyat said in a statement released by the DOT on Friday morning.

Needless to say, we laud the initiative of the PACC. We look forward to contributing to the report which they hope to complete by year's end, Romulo-Puyat added.

The directive was made formal in a memorandum issued to all DOT central and regional offices, as well all DOT attached agencies and corporations officials.

The PACC revealed earlier that a lifestyle check is being conducted on at least 200 government officials from the Bureau of Customs, Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and the Bureau of Internal Revenue pursuant to its authority under Executive Order No. 43 s. 2017.
