Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Ismael D. Sueno has designated Chief Supt. Bobby V. Baruelo, Deputy Chief for Operation (DCO) National Headquarters, as Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
Under Department Order No. 2016-750-A dated August 12, 2016, Sueno ordered the designation of Baruelo as BFP-OIC vice Chief Supt. Rodrigo R. Abrazaldo whose retirement takes effect today.
As OIC, Baruelo is authorized to act on personnel actions, financial and logistical transactions and operational matters that are vested on the Chief of the fire bureau.
The order further advised that movement/ designations of personnel Division Chiefs up is subject to Department Circular 2016-11 dated July 21, 2016.
A graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) class 1987, Baruelo rose from the ranks and served various directorates and services in the national and regional headquarters.
He has been in government service for 30 years and also served as former regional director of Region 10 and as Quezon City Fire Marshal.
