An 11-year-old girl from this city who tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) last month has turned negative of the disease, the Department of Health (DOH) -12 reported Monday night.
Arjohn Gangoso, speaking for the DOH-12 (Soccsksargen), said the girl (PH13619) had close contact with the 17th positive patient in the region and treated at the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center, the referral hospital for Covid-19 cases in Soccsksargen and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
“She was Cotabato City’s 10th patient to have recovered. Five other patients tested positive for Covid-19 remained in the hospital,” Gangoso said.
The 17th patient in the region was a 26-year-old male employee of Cotabato City who was renting an apartment owned by the girl’s parents.
A nine-month-old brother of the 11-year-old girl was also tested positive for the virus but has fully recovered, the Cotabato City health office reported.
The Soccsksargen now has a total of 49 positive cases, 25 have recovered, and one fatality.
At present, South Cotabato has the highest number of Covid-19 positive at 16 with six recoveries, while Cotabato City has 15 positive cases and 10 recoveries.
North Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat have six positive patients each, with five and two recovered patients, respectively. General Santos City and Sarangani have three confirmed Covid-19 patients each. Both also reported one recovery each.
Gangoso reiterated DOH’s reminder for the public to always observe safe physical distancing, the mandatory wearing of face masks, regular handwashing with soap, eating of nutritious food, and to avoid posting fake news.
