The Commission on Elections will discuss its experience and challenges in the conduct of the past three automated elections in a Round Table Discussion (RTD) at the De La Salle University -Taft on September 23, 2016 from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
The RTD, which will run from September 22 to 23, 2016, is part of the Asian Tour on the "use of technology in elections" of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA).
Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista will deliver the keynote address on the Overall Conduct of the 2016 Elections from 09:15 AM to 09:35 while the Comelec Information and Technology Department (ITD) will provide a historical overview of the Philippine Automated Elections.
The conduct of the 2016 National and Local elections is considered to be the most credible in the history of Philippine elections, according to a Pulse Asia survey.
IDEA is an intergovernmental organization with "a mission to support democracy worldwide. It produces comparative knowledge on electoral processes, constitution building, political participation and representation, democracy and development, and on democracy as it relates to gender, diversity, conflict and security."
The Commission, together with Task Force Eleksyon and the De La Salle University - Jesse Robredo Institute of Governance is partnering with IDEA for the said event.
Chairman Bautista will also join the event's press conference at the Palacio del Gobernador, Intramuros, Manila, at 2:00 PM on September 23.
