Voters will be able to register in their barangays for the 2017 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, according to the Commission on Elections.
The Comelec said that it will intensify the conduct of mandatory satellite registration at least twice or more, whenever necessary in every barangay in the country.
"We will be setting up satellite registration centers in every barangay to encourage more people to participate in the elections. This could be either in barangay halls, public or private schools, commercial establishments, detention centers, areas with indigenous communities, and other public places within the district, city, or municipality," Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said.
The satellite offices will receive applications for registrations, transfer, reactivation, correction or change, reinstatement, and inclusion in the list of voters.
The continuing voters' registration is set to start on October 3, 2016 and end on April 29, 2017. Applications for registrations at the Office of the Election Officer (OEO) will be received from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Mondays to Saturdays, including holidays, except on November 1, December 24 and 25,December 31, January 1, and April 13 and 14, 2017.
The Comelec is expecting 2 million additional voters for the SK election and 3 million for the Barangay election.
