MANILA-- The Commission on Elections received a total of 2,174,601 applications for registration from 07 November 2016 to 25 March 2017 in the ongoing registration of voters nationwide.
Applications received from regular registrants nationwide were 1,558,892, while those from Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) registrants numbered at 615,709. Region III obtained the highest number of SK applications at 80,696 out of the total of 324,408, which include those from the 18 years old and above age bracket.
We wish to remind the public that it is now less than 30 days before the end of the current round of voter registration. At present, the Commission has no plans of extending the registration period, COMELEC Spokesperson James Jimenez said.
The system of continuing registration for regular elections is set to end on April 29, 2017, 120 days before the scheduled Barangay and SK polls on October 23, as mandated by The Voter's Registration Act of 1996.
All types of applications will be accepted at the Offices of the Election Officer (OEO) from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Mondays to Saturdays, including holidays, except on April 13 and 14, 2017. Satellite registration offices established in every barangay nationwide are also ready to receive applications on varying dates per barangay as approved by the OEO.
