TUGUEGARAO CITYCagayan athletes reasserted their sports prowess as they emerged overall champions for the third straight year in the Cagayan Valley Regional Athletic Association meet which ended at the Cagayan Sports Complex in this city Thursday.

Based on the Games Result and Records Committee documentation signed by committee chairperson Denis Agbayani and eight other members, Cagayan delegates were the runaway winners in both elementary (53 golds-31 silvers-49 bronzes) and secondary (61-58-55) levels.

Eight-ranked Cauayan City managed to snag 11 golds, 21 silvers and 35 bronzes while perennial tail-ender Batanes island-province, which entered only in some events due to manpower and fund constraints, took only three golds, a lone silver and a lone bronze for a five-medal finish.
The winning athletes will represent the Cagayan Valley region in the Palarong Pambansa slated to be held on April 16-20 in Ilocos Sur.
The CAVRAA banner was turned over by Tuguegarao City Mayor Jefferson Soriano to the next host, Cauayan City, through Mayor Bernard Faustino Dy in 2019.
