Last-termer Mayor Ronnie Vicente Lagnada vowed Thursday to continue his "BUTUAN ON" program, which he said has translated into better services for residents in the last six years.
“We are right on the mark of our plans,” Lagnada said in a speech after the took oath of office for the last time as chief executive.
He said BUTUAN ON, or a city ascending, is a journey with the aspiration of making Butuan a livable and sustainable city.
With the fresh mandate, Lagnada said his administration will focus on things that will help the city government reach its destination -- that is the transformation of Butuan into a fully developed city.
In the past six years, he said that the city government has gained success in providing the residents with a livable environment by securing the land and watershed resources of the city.
He also cited significant improvements in aquaculture, agroforestry, and ecotourism in the city.
“We need to work hard and sacrifice to achieve our dreams and aspirations. We will also work to speed up good governance reforms through the strengthening of internal control and audit initiatives,” Lagnada said.
The mayor has also vowed to fully implement the rationalization plan of the city government to ensure the people efficient and better public services.
Vice Mayor Lawrence Lemuel Fortun, the former representative of the 1st district of Agusan del Norte, also took his oath as the newly-elected vice mayor of Butuan City on Thursday.
