CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan In line with the observance of Fire Prevention Month this March, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) - Bulacan Rescue on Friday visited the departments and district hospitals in this province to enhance the knowledge and information of the employees about the proper response in times of disaster such as fire.
Anchored on the theme Ligtas na Pilipinas ang Ating Hangad, Pag-iingat sa Sunog ay sa Sarili Ipatupad, Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado emphasized the importance of being ready and well informed in the event a fire incident occurs.
The provincial government has been doing this yearly to ensure readiness and proper response in case of fire incident in order to minimize damages to lives and properties, Alvarado said.
He added that aside from an orientation conducted in all offices, information, education, and communication materials like posters and leaflets were also distributed for the provincial officials and employees.
PDRRMO head Felicisima Mungcal said the activities for this month include the launching of Fire Prevention Month on March 5; provincial government's fire marshals training on basic fire fighting on March 6; fire drill; and inspection of fire safety of hospitals run by the provincial government of Bulacan on March 9.
Let us follow the fire prevention and safety checklist in which in case there is fire, let us do the get out, stay out, and call for help as well as the stop, drop and roll, Mungcal said.
Meanwhile, Billy Joe Marciano, an employee of the Provincial Public Affairs Office who participated on the orientation conducted by PDRRMO, said that it is important to take part in this kind of activity in order for everyone to be ready not only in the office but also at home.
