The provincial government of Antique will implement boundary restriction and curfew for 14 days starting midnight on Monday as part of the preventive measures against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
Antique Governor Rhodora Cadiao announced this Monday morning during the Provincial Development Council (PDC) meeting at The Venue in this capital town.
“Let us collectively work together as we have only one common enemy -- the Covid-19,” Cadiao said.
She said that the mayors and other political leaders in the province should have to work together to implement the boundary restriction and curfew.
She said the boundary restriction will have police checkpoints set up particularly in the entry and exit points between Antique and its neighboring provinces of Aklan and Iloilo.
“Checkpoints will particularly be set up in the northernmost town of Libertad which is in the boundary of Aklan and then in Hamtic which is in the boundary of Iloilo province,” the governor said.
Pandan, which has a bay through which tourists and other people from other provinces might enter through boats; and Anini-y, which has a coastal road from San Joaquin, Iloilo province, will also be closely monitored.
The curfew, meanwhile, will be implemented by the police once the governor issues an executive order from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. so that everyone will have to stay at home.
"I am issuing EO before 5 p.m. Monday," Cadiao said.
Antique lone district Representative Loren Legarda, in a phone call made during the PDC meeting, appealed for everyone to support the boundary restriction and curfew.
“I appeal to all to go on voluntary 14 days self-quarantine,” she said.
