MANILA --At least 39 international and domestic flights were delayed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Wednesday afternoon due to two red lightning alerts.
The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) issued the red lightning alert from 12:28 p.m. to 2:10 p.m., and from 2:27 p.m. to 3:07 p.m.
No flights were diverted to other airports, according to MIAA.
Red lightning alert is a safety measure to prevent any untoward incident from happening when lightning is prevalent in the immediate area that may endanger passengers, personnel, and flight operations.
During this period, the movement for both aircraft and ramp personnel is temporarily suspended. (PNA)
