MANILA Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested three persons who duped a South Korean national into investing in a bogus claim to supposed cash and metal holdings at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).
In a statement Tuesday, NBI Director Dante Gierran said Julius Divinagracia, Genny Divinagracia and Luis Divinagracia were arrested by members of the NBI Anti-Fraud Division (NBI-AFD) in an entrapment operation in Caloocan City last January 16.
The unnamed victim said the three concocted a story claiming that their late forefathers and father owned a large amount of cash and metal accounts kept at the BSP and enticed the victim to invest in its recovery.
The victim was asked to shell out a total amount of PHP1.41 million for the trading program of the funds maintained at the BSP.
Aside from this, the suspects conned the victim to pay another PHP230,000 for trading registration. (PNA)
