MANILA-- The number of people killed by the 6.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Surigao City, Surigao del Norte late Friday night has initially been placed at three, with another 21 hurt.
This was disclosed by Office of Civil Defense-CARAGA region director Rosauro Arnel Gonzales in an 8 a.m. update Saturday.
The earthquake occurred at 10:03 p.m. Friday.
He identified the fatalities as Eludo Robert,Jr., 39; JM Anar, 4; and Wilson Lee, reportedly 22 to 28 years old, all from Surigao City.
All victims were killed by "blunt trauma", he added.
A total of 14 people were reportedly admitted at the CARAGA Regional Hospital while there were 61 outpatients.
There are also seven injured in Sison, Surigao del Norte, five of whom were brought to the Bad-as Hospital in Placer, Surigao del Norte.
Initial reports indicated that the Ana-aon Bridge in San Francisco town, Surigao del Norte collapsed while some roads were partly damaged.
Collapsed houses and walls were also reported in Barangays Baya-ag and Biabid in Sison town. (PNA)
