More ASF quarantine stations set up in NegOcc
Two quarantine stations have been set up in Victorias City in northern Negros Occidental to boost the province’s campaign against the dreaded African swine fever (ASF) after cases have already been reported in the neighboring Iloilo province. The city government on Monday called on residents to report to the office of the city agriculture or city veterinarian any possible signs of African swine fever (ASF) that manifest on their hogs. “ASF is very infectious. Once the city vet knows, then we can do some interventions to protect other hogs with no symptoms,” Mayor Jerry Treñas said in a press conference. A labor group on Monday supported the directive of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Boards (RTWPBs) to review the existing minimum wage level amid soaring commodity prices.
