Law enforcement authorities arrested two high-value targets (HVTs) drug personalities in separate operations in Zamboanga del Norte, a police official said Saturday.
Maj. Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) information officer, identified the suspects as Sonny Boy Rellen, 32, and Hadzmar Malic, 30.
Galvez said Rellen was arrested in a buy-bust by a team of police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives around 10:46 p.m. Friday on the highway of Barangay San Miguel, Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte.
Rellen, listed by PDEA as an HVT, yielded some PHP45,000 worth of suspected shabu, and PHP500 marked money, police said.
Galvez said Rellen was previously arrested by in an anti-drug operation in 2015 in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, but was released after he opted for a plea bargaining agreement.
Meanwhile, police said Malic was arrested in a law enforcement operation through a warrant of arrest around 11:55 a.m. Thursday in Barangay Bucana, Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte.
Malic, the top 7 drug personality in Siocon, has a standing warrant of arrest issued by a regional court in Siocon in 2017 for violating several provisions of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
