MANILA Eleven of the top 12 winners in the senatorial race last May 13 polls have submitted their respective Statements of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCEs) before the Campaign Finance Office (CFO) of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Manila.
CFO latest data showed that senators-elect Cynthia Villar, Nancy Binay, Pia Cayetano, Bong Go, Grace Poe, Francis Tolentino, Bong Revilla, Imee Marcos, Sonny Angara, Koko Pimentel, Ronald dela Rosa have already filed their SOCEs.
Only senator-elect Lito Lapid has yet to submit his SOCE within the month-long filing period which ended on June 13.
Section 14 of Republic Act No. 7166 requires every candidate and political party to file with the Commission the full, true, and itemized SOCEs within 30 days after the election day.
Marcos, who is in 8th place overall with 15,851,910 votes in the May 2019 midterm polls, has received a total of PHP137,560,000 cash and in-kind contributions and has incurred expenses amounting to PHP132,146,754.55 while Angara (6th place with 18,142,536 votes) got a total of PHP153,341,072.41 cash and in-kind contributions and has spent PHP153,655,185.84 in the campaign.
Pimentel (10th place, with 14,646,191 votes) has received a total of PHP79,525,000 cash and in-kind contributions and incurred expenditures amounting to PHP79,595,818.30 while the total contributions received and total expenditures incurred by dela Rosa amounted to PHP92,604,861.86 and PHP92,701,116.79, respectively.
Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez on Friday said late filing by losers of SOCEs in the last polls will no longer be accepted after the deadline.
Winners in the May 2019 mid-term polls are allowed to submit their SOCEs within six months upon proclamation but they will be charged with corresponding fees.
On the other hand, the CFO reported that some of the losing candidates in the national positions that have filed their SOCEs include Mar Roxas, Romulo Macalintal, Dr. Willie Ong, Atty Chel Diokno, Florin Hilbay, Gary Alejano, Erin Tanada, Jiggy Manicad.
There are a total of 62 senatorial candidates who run in last month's polls.
As for party-list groups, among those that have submitted their SOCEs include ACT-CIS, Senior Citizens, Magdalo, ACT Teachers, Ang Probinsyano, 1PACMAN, PBA, LPGMA, SBP, TUCP, Bayan Muna, and Gabriella.
A total of 134 party-list groups have participated in the May 13 elections.
So far, six political parties that have so far submitted their SOCEs among them are PDP-Laban, Lakas-CMD, Nacionalista Party, and Liberal Party. (PNA)
