Zambo City remains under GCQ amid surge in Covid-19 cases

This city will remain under general community quarantine (GCQ) until the end of the month amid the surging cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) and the threat of the more contagious Delta variant.

Dr. Elmeir Jade Apolinario, chief implementer of the local inter-agency task force addressing the health crisis, said Friday the crackdown against protocol violators would be reinforced due to the spike in Covid-19 cases.

The active cases of Covid-19 increased to 1,885 as 193 new cases were recorded on September 30, based on the Covid-19 data tracker.

However, the recovered cases also climbed to 13,121 as 125 new recoveries were registered.

This city has 15,724 total confirmed cases, 31 of which were reinfections, with 13,121 recoveries, 1,885 active cases, and 718 deaths.

Apolinario urged the public to continue complying with the minimum health standards amid the threat posed by the Delta variant.

He also advised the public to avoid the three “Cs” – closed spaces, crowded places, and close contact.

Meanwhile, the Zamboanga City Police recorded a total of 358 violations of health safety protocols on Thursday – 31 for not wearing a face mask; 13 for violating safe physical distancing; 110 for violating curfew hours; 160 for not having a quarantine pass and valid identification card; one for not wearing a face shield; and 43 for unauthorized person outside residence.
