The local task force addressing the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) has announced the reimposition of the Sunday lockdown with modifications, effective August 1, due to the persistent threat of the more transmissible Delta variant.
Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, in a Facebook post on Saturday, said the Sunday lockdown would last until August 15.
Under this lockdown, only those heading to places of worship; health, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM), and security front-liners; and those involved in emergencies would be allowed to go out.
Others are advised to stay at home while children 17 years old and below will not be allowed outdoors.
Religious activities shall be limited to 30 percent venue capacity while grocery stores and supermarkets shall only serve health, DRRM, and security front-liners, while public markets, including flea markets, and stores in barangays will be closed.
Restaurants and food servers shall only accommodate food delivery and take-out, which means dine-in is prohibited. Public transportation shall also be suspended.
She said quarantine checkpoints will remain and Barangay Sita Task Forces, as well as police and other force multipliers, are directed to continue strict enforcement of general community quarantine (GCQ) guidelines and minimum health standards.
This city will be under GCQ from August 1 to 31, as announced by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-EID).
Salazar, meanwhile, said public and private beach resorts, as well as river resorts, would not be allowed to operate on Saturdays and Sundays (July 31, August 1, 7, 8, 14, and 15).
Mountain resorts and similar establishments will likewise not be allowed to operate on Saturdays and Sundays starting August 1 and the succeeding weekends (Aug 1, 7, 8, 14, and 15).
Salazar said only inland and mountain resorts with business permits would be allowed to operate on July 31 due to advanced bookings.
“An executive order to this effect will be issued and published in different media platforms,” she said.
