Volunteers’ invaluable efforts in nat’l vax days cited

Presidential Adviser for Covid-19 Response Vivencio Dizon has cited the invaluable efforts of the volunteers for the successful National Covid-19 Vaccination Days at the start of the month.

Reporting to President Rodrigo Duterte during the Talk to the People broadcasted Tuesday, Dizon said the five-day national vaccination event placed the Philippines in the global spotlight as it ranked one of the countries with the highest number of vaccines administered in a single day.

The Philippines has the fourth-highest number of jabs against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) administered in a single day as it rolled out over 2.88 million doses of jabs on December 1.

The country is only behind China, India, and the United States as top countries in the world with the highest number of Covid-19 vaccines given in a single day.

“(I)t was a huge success and we want to really honor and thank all the people that worked so hard, Mr. President, to make it a resounding success, especially our healthcare workers. From the national government, from the LGUs (local government units), from the private sector who really worked together to make this happen,” Dizon said.

Total vaccines administered for the first three days reached more than 8.09 million doses, or 90 percent of the targeted 9 million doses for the national Covid-19 jab days.

With the expansion of the national vaccination days, a total of 10.1 million jabs were rolled out in five days —the highest five-day average for the country.

“We were very, very successful and we hope and pray we can replicate this success to the next round next week,” Dizon added.

Before the year ends, he said the country can expect 67 million more doses of vaccine as the country continues to protect its population from Covid-19.
