The Police Regional Office in Zamboanga Peninsula (PRO-9) awarded medals on Monday to six policemen, including two officers, for exemplary performance of duty.

Recipients of the Medalya ng Kadakilaan or the Philippine National Police (PNP) Heroism Medal were Lieutenant Jilbert Escobin and Corporal Jonjie Sabanal of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Maj. Shellamie Chang, PRO-9 information officer, said Escobin and Sabanal were awarded the heroism medals for the successful arrest of Roman Bondiongan, a high-value target, in an anti-drug operation on November 20 in Purok Sampaguita, Barangay Tenan, Ipil town.

Chang said also awarded were Maj. Mario Regidor and Staff Sergeant Virgel Quimado of Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur with the Medalya ng Kagalingan (PNP Merit Medal) for their accomplishment in the campaign against wanted persons.
