PhilSys registration center opens at Gaisano Capital Mintal

Residents of Barangay Mintal here will have an easier time applying for the Philippine Identification (PhilID) card or national ID with the opening of a registration center at Gaisano Capital Mintal.

The shopping center announced on social media that it has been chosen as a Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) sign-up site and has been processing applications since November 16.

“PSA National ID registration in Gaisano Capital Mintal is now open! Registration is from Monday to Sunday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Bring any valid government ID to secure an appointment stub at the screening section for fast transaction,” the store’s post read.

To ensure safety against Covid-19, the PhilSys Gaisano Capital Mintal team urges registrants to wear masks at all times.

Randolph Anthony Gales, chief statistical specialist of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Davao del Sur and Davao City, said city malls here are the recommended venues to control the crowd and avoid mass gathering.

He said PhilSys registration in Region 11 will continue even if 90-percent of the 3.6 million target is met.

As of October, PSA-11 has processed the Step 2 biometrics registration of about 70.38 percent of its goal.

Overall, 40,264,550 have finished the registration process as of November 10.

PSA reminds PhilSys registrants to bring valid ID or valid document to prove their identities, like passports, Unified Multi-Purpose Identification issued by the Government Service Insurance System or Social Security System (SSS), Land Transportation Office-issued Student’s License permit or Non-Professional/Professional driver’s license, or PSA-issued birth certificate with one government-issued identification document which bears full name, photograph, and signature or thumb mark

Among the accepted secondary documents are PSA-issued birth certificate with Birth Reference Number, Civil Registrar-issued birth certificate, Integrated Bar of the Philippines or Professional Regulation Commission ID, Seaman’s Book, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration ID, Senior Citizen’s ID, SSS ID, Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program ID, License to Own or Possess Firearms, National Bureau of Investigation or police clearance, Solo Parent ID, disability ID, voter’s ID, Taxpayer Identification Number ID, Philippine Health Insurance ID, Philippine Retirement Authority-issued Special Resident Retiree’s Visa, national or residence ID from other countries for aliens residing in the country, employment ID, school ID, barangay ID or clearance, and city/municipal ID.

Signed into law by President Rodrigo R. Duterte in August 2018, Republic Act 11055, or the Philippine Identification System Act, aims to establish a single national ID for all Filipinos and resident aliens.

The national ID shall be a valid proof of identity that shall be a means of simplifying public and private transactions, enrollment in schools, and the opening of bank accounts.

It also seeks to boost efficiency, especially in dealing with government services where people will only need to present one ID during transactions.
