PH active Covid-19 cases stay below 30K

The number of active Covid-19 cases in the country remains below 30,000 on Friday, a significant drop from the peak of over 180,000 cases in September.

In its daily Covid-19 bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) said the country’s active cases are now at 29,105 after 1,894 new cases were reported, a little less than Thursday’s 1,974 new cases.

Of these active cases, the majority have mild symptoms at 63 percent, those with moderate symptoms at 16.70 percent, those with severe symptoms at 10.2 percent, the asymptomatic at 5.7 percent, and those in critical condition at 4.4 percent.

There were also 1,421 new recoveries, bringing the country’s total to 2,738,975 or 97.4 percent of all known Covid-19 infections.

It reported 170 new deaths, bringing the country’s total deaths due to Covid-19 at 45,035 or 1.60 percent of all known cases.

Based on the latest testing data, there were 43,591 Covid-19 tests administered in the country on Wednesday, with a positivity rate of 5.5 percent.

The country’s health care utilization rate remains low, with 3,800 beds at intensive care units (ICU) at 39 percent occupancy, 20,700 isolation beds at 30 percent occupancy, 13,900 ward beds at 23 percent occupancy, and 22 percent of 3,100 ventilators are currently in use.

In the National Capital Region (NCR), there are 1,300 ICU beds at 35 percent occupancy, 4,900 isolation beds at 26 percent occupancy, 4,000 ward beds at 26 percent occupancy, and 21 percent of 1,000 ventilators are in use.
