P1.38-M worth of marijuana seized, 3 suspects nabbed in Bulacan

Police seized an estimated PHP1,380,000 worth of marijuana leaves and arrested three suspects in an anti-illegal drugs operation in Barangay Bagumbayan, Bocaue, this province on Thursday.

Col. Lawrence Cajipe, provincial director of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office, said the arrested drug suspects were identified as Robert Anthony Valeriano, a resident of Barangay Bagumbayan, Bocaue, John David Valbuena of Barangay Dakila, Malolos City, both included on the Philippine National Police-Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PNP-PDEA) unified drug watchlist and Ardie Manalaysay, also of Barangay Dakila.

Cajipe said the operation was conducted by the joint elements of Bocaue Drug Enforcement Unit, Special Concerned Unit under Regional Intelligence Division, Bulacan 1st Provincial Mobile Force Compan, and Bulacan Provincial Intelligence Branch in Barangay Bagumbayan, Bocaue around 3 a.m.

Seized were 46 stalks of dried marijuana leaves, one plastic bag containing suspected dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops, a weighing scale, and assorted drug paraphernalia.

The arrested suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to Bulacan Crime Laboratory for examination.

Criminal complaints for violation of Sections 5, 11, and 26 of Article II of the Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act) are now being prepared against the arrested suspects before the City Prosecutors Office in Malolos City.
