Over 50K inoculated during 3-day vax campaign in Antique

The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) has recorded 50,464 vaccine recipients from various municipalities of Antique during the three-day national “Bayanihan,Bakunahan” against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

IPHO Infectious Diseases Cluster head Sheree Vego said on Thursday the province surpassed its daily target of 15,000 vaccinees.

“The local chief executives (LCEs) gave their all-out support by providing transportation to the people,” she said.

Vego added that the difficulty in transportation was one of the challenges that prevented Antiqueños from getting vaccinated during the November 29 to December 1 nationwide drive.

On November 29, health workers inoculated 17,277 people, an additional 15,189 on November 30, and 17,212 on December 1.

“Those inoculated were either for their first dose, second or booster shot,” she said.

The top five performing municipalities are San Jose de Buenavista with 5,757; San Remigio with 4,523; Culasi with 4,049; Sibalom with 3,706; and Hamtic with 3,582. The province has 18 municipalities.

San Remigio Municipal Mayor Margarito Mission, Jr., in a separate interview, said they provided free transportation and snacks to the vaccinees at the municipal gymnasium.

“We also had raffle draw of 10 kilos of rice every 30 minutes to those who come to be vaccinated,” he said.

He said that the raffle draw encouraged many to avail of the shots against the virus.
