NegOr finalizing preps for pediatric vaccination

The province of Negros Oriental will join the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination for the 12 to 17 age group on November 5 following a simulation on Friday.

In a virtual presser on Saturday, Assistant Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Liland Estacion, said the required simulation was carried out by the Department of Health.

Estacion said priority will be given to children with comorbidities, who must present a medical certificate that states they are qualified for vaccination.

There will be ambulances on standby for vaccinees who may exhibit adverse effects and must be taken to hospitals.

Estacion reminded the minors and their parents to pre-register for the inoculation.

Also on Friday, 20,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine arrived from the national government, a boost to the province’s goal to inoculate at least 908,939 residents.

As of October 30, a total of 170,244 are already fully vaccinated.

Estacion also thanked a private citizen for donating a freezer to store Covid-19 jabs.

The province has 2,542 active Covid-19 cases as of October 26.
