More Bacolod residents get protection thru nat’l vaccination days

Mayor Evelio Leonardia has expressed his appreciation to the national government for the staging of the National Covid-19 Vaccination Days dubbed “Bayanihan, Bakunahan”, which led to more Bacolodnons getting protection from coronavirus disease 2019.

During the three-day campaign from November 29 to December 1, the city logged a 106.92 percent accomplishment.

“More residents are now assured of protection from Covid-19. Thanks to the ‘Bayanihan, Bakunahan’ event and the hundreds of our volunteers. The people of Bacolod are very thankful for your dedication and commitment to keep our communities safe,” the mayor said in a statement on Friday.

A total of 70,752 doses were administered on vaccine recipients in Bacolod, including 12- to 17-year-olds, senior citizens, and adults with comorbidities, much higher than the goal of 66,171 vaccinees set by the Department of Health for Bacolod.

More than 200 vaccinators and volunteers, including doctors, nurses, barangay health workers, and village officials, manned the 42 inoculation sites set up by the city government for the three-day event.

Among those vaccinated in Bacolod was DOH-Western Regional Director Adriano Suba-an, who got his booster shot during his visit to the city on November 29, administered by Dr. Edwin Miraflor Jr., officer-in-charge of the City Health Office.

Leonardia thanked the Bacolodnons anew for their support to the national government campaign to expedite population protection against Covid-19.

Em Legaspi-Ang, executive director of the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force, acknowledged the data management cluster efforts of keeping track and encoding vaccination records to ensure the information are accurate.

“Even with the ‘Bayanihan Bakunahan’ now over, our teams are still on duty in various vaccination centers, including those in the mall-based sites,” she added.
