DPWH completes P100-M projects in Bulacan school

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bulacan 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) has completed PHP100-million worth of projects at the Congressman Erasmo Cruz Memorial Central School in Barangay Wakas, this town.

Henry Alcantara, district engineer of the DPWH Bulacan 1st DEO, on Friday said the projects include a three-story building with 15 classrooms, multi-purpose covered hall, and a rubberized track and field oval with bleachers.

Alcantara said the fund for the projects came from the Office of Senator Joel Villanueva as requested then by his sister, the late Mayor Joni Villanueva-Tugna.

He was pleased that the projects were successfully completed on time despite the challenges brought about by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

“Clearing na lang, then we will turn it over to Senator Villanueva for the formal inauguration. The construction period took us more than eight months and finally, it is 100 percent completed,” Alcantara told newsmen during an inspection visit.

He said the projects started in January this year and were finished despite the second wave surge of Covid-19 in March, third wave in July, and heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon enhanced by typhoons until August.
