A total of 77,410,640 doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been delivered in the Philippines, with 46,778,666 doses already administered nationwide.
Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., chief implementer of the National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19, described the latest development as a “significant milestone” in the country’s vaccination program.
“I am very confident na ‘yung (that the) 100 million doses target this October is still on track with expected arrival of 10 million procured Pfizer vaccines with 5 million from Moderna, and another 10 million from Sinovac, and remaining 5.9 million doses being donated by US-COVAX,” Galvez said during the regular Talk to the People of President Rodrigo Duterte aired late Monday, citing October 3 and 4 data.
The COVAX Facility has already delivered about 20 million doses of vaccines, with another 6.7 million doses to be sent within the month.
Galvez confirmed 844,800 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines will be donated by the government of Germany through the COVAX Facility.
The US also gave 42 freezers that can store vaccines requiring temperature storage of 2 to 8 degrees Celsius and minus 20 degrees.
The freezers will be distributed to municipalities nationwide.
As of Tuesday, 24,787,214 first shots and 21,991,452 second doses have been administered.
With the arrival of more vaccines in the coming weeks, Galvez said the target population protection can be increased to 90 percent – from 70 percent – of the estimated 110 million total population.
“We have enough supply kasi ang atin pong stockpile sa ngayon is 31 million doses. Ito pong 31 million doses pong ito, more than one and a half month po natin gagamitin po iyan (We have enough supply because we still have 31 million doses in our stockpile, and this is equivalent to more than one and a half month usage),” he said.
