Couple yields P500-K shabu in Bataan buy-bust

Two drug suspects were arrested and some PHP500,000 worth of shabu was confiscated in a buy-bust operation in a barangay here on Monday.

In a police report on Tuesday, Maj. Dennis Ian Revilas, Orani police chief, said those arrested were identified as Nash Amerol alias Sadam, 27, and his girlfriend Regiena Bautista, 38, who is engaged in online financing. Both are residents of Barangay Tugatog, this town.

The two suspects, Revilas said, were nabbed after selling to a police-poseur buyer a medium-sized heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of shabu in exchange for PHP1,000.

In the follow-up search, he added, operatives found in the possession of Amerol a knot-tied transparent plastic containing shabu with an estimated weight of 100 grams amounting to more or less PHP500,000.

Meanwhile, recovered from Bautista was a piece of medium-sized heat-sealed plastic sachet of shabu with an undisclosed weight and amount, the police chief said.

The successful operation was conducted at 12:48 a.m. by elements of the Orani police, Bataan Police Intelligence Unit and the Bataan Police Provincial Drug Enforcement unit, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

The suspects now face charges in violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, Revilas said.
